Pension Sankt Urban

If you don't mind that the room furnishings aren't the latest fashion, then this is the place for you! The rooms are absolutely clean, everything works perfectly! The beds were beautifully made every day, and even our dog's bed was made up in a -shape every day! The room service is top-notch! The beautiful, sunny balcony was perfectly equipped with loungers and chairs. The advertised tap water, which comes from the surrounding mountains, actually tastes fabulous! And last but not least, the breakfast buffet! The housekeeper in charge ensures that everyone—absolutely everyone—finds something delicious! Fresh fruit, fruit salad, cakes, delicious rolls and bread, cereals, countless jams, cold cuts, cheese, eggs, scrambled eggs, and bacon, and so on! Everything is freshly prepared every morning! For drinks, there are six different juices, water, numerous teas, hot chocolate, coffee, espresso, cappuccino, and latte macchiato! Really great - you just have to be careful not to overeat! We can't comment on the swimming pool, as we didn't use it. Merano's city center is within easy walking distance. You can safely leave the car behind (free parking is available on site)! There are also a few minor drawbacks: we found €12/day for our dog quite expensive, especially since we had to bring everything (bowls, cushions). Since breakfast is served from 7:00 a.m., the setting up of the incredibly varied, fantastic buffet begins around 6:00 a.m. Since we had a room on the ground floor, you can hear quite a bit of noise. The same applies to guests chatting (not always quietly) at reception. This could be remedied by adding another (easy to install) door between the three rooms on the ground floor and the reception area and breakfast rooms.

Located in the Obermais district, in a quiet area with numerous detached houses and villas, we found the cozy and lovingly furnished Pension Sankt Urban with rustic rooms, excellent value for money (almost unbeatable for the Merano area, given the conditions), and an extensive breakfast buffet. Friendly and extremely welcoming staff, clean rooms, ample storage space in the rooms, and a large garden with a swimming pool made for a pleasant stay in Merano. The breakfast is generously stocked with whole-grain breads, various fruits and vegetables are available, egg dishes are available, as well as cheese, meat, and yogurt. A large selection of cereals, teas, and coffee in various varieties are available to guests, as well as all the other little things needed for a pleasant and tasty breakfast. Plenty of parking spaces, some of which are covered, are available. The bus stop is about a 10-minute walk away, and the center of Merano is about 8 minutes away by car. The streets in the neighborhood are sometimes narrow, steep, and confusing, so smaller, more maneuverable cars are advantageous. A refrigerator with drinks is available for purchase in the lobby. Plenty of information material, as well as several maps of Merano and the surrounding area, is available. The guesthouse offers a discount on admission to the thermal baths. A towel is also provided for use there (as well as for the swimming pool). Unfortunately, due to its older construction, the guesthouse is not wheelchair accessible. For example, there is no elevator, which can pose difficulties for people with disabilities due to the steep, albeit wide, stairs.

We stayed at this property for a few days. It was excellent, we had a great time.

Small cozy B&B

I booked two nights directly with the owner – absolutely no problems! Great communication and extremely friendly. Breakfast – nothing was missing. Everything was fresh and delicious. The rooms are a bit old-fashioned but very clean. Nothing is broken and everything works. The outdoor area is great for relaxing. There is plenty of parking. The staff is incredibly friendly – ​​very personable and welcoming.

Everything perfect.

I stayed at Pension Sant Urban for a weekend with my boyfriend. Few places have remained so dear to me, and few places are so well-kept. The rooms are splendid, spacious with fantastic carpeting, a private terrace, a large wardrobe, and an incredibly comfortable bed, complete with two separate duvets, so you don't risk stealing the covers during the night. The room is always at the perfect temperature, so much so that, despite the cold outside, I stayed in short sleeves inside. Special mention goes to the presence of an empty carafe and two glasses, to fill it with tap water, which, as they themselves explain, is of excellent quality, so they avoid using too many plastic bottles, and I agree about the quality of the water. Furthermore, upon arrival we were given two free public transport tickets, and in the room we found an insert with recommendations for activities and restaurants in the area. The breakfast was exceptional! Top-quality products, from the bread to the cakes to the savory dishes. A rich breakfast that satisfies every taste. The staff is extremely kind and helpful, and if you want something hot in the afternoon, no problem—they can make you coffee, tea, herbal teas, etc. The location is excellent; you can reach the parking lot below the center of Merano in 5 minutes by car. Professionalism, care, dedication, and quality are the adjectives that describe Sankt Urban for me. I recommend staying here if you're planning a weekend in Merano.
