Het indrukwekkende Grandhotel Toblach, dat nu wordt gebruikt als cultuur- en conferentiecentrum en waar ook de jaarlijkse Gustav Mahler Muziekweken en het Zuid-Tirol Festival worden gehouden, getuigt nog steeds van zijn hoogtijdagen. De Oostenrijkse componist Gustav Mahler bracht hier immers meerdere keren zijn vakantie door en componeerde enkele van zijn beroemdste werken in het zomerresort Toblach. Het kleine huis van de componist kan worden bezocht.
Het centrum van het dorp is de parochiekerk van San Giovanni, een belangrijk voorbeeld van late barokarchitectuur, waar omheen veel mooie winkels en boetiekjes zijn gegroepeerd die bezoekers uitnodigen om te wandelen en te winkelen. Gezinnen zullen dol zijn op het natuurlijke zwemmeer in Toblach met het aangrenzende recreatiegebied en het wildpark, waar talloze inheemse dieren leven.

Vanuit Toblach bereik je Cortina d'Ampezzo via de smalle, ongeveer 15 kilometer lange Höhlensteinvallei in de Italiaanse Dolomieten. In deze vallei ligt ook het turkooisblauwe Toblach meer, dat in de zomer een welkome verfrissing en in de winter een romantische wandeling biedt, evenals het schilderachtige Lago di Landro.
Mountainbikers en fietsers komen ook aan hun trekken in de omgeving van Toblach. Het Pustertal fietspad leidt aan de ene kant via Bruneck naar het Eisacktal en aan de andere kant over de grens naar het Oostenrijkse Lienz. Omdat de route vanaf Toblach aan beide kanten altijd licht bergafwaarts loopt en de terugweg met de trein kan worden afgelegd, is het fietspad ook erg populair bij gezinnen. Het fietspad van Toblach naar Cortina is ook een aanrader.
