Voor kinderen is water in elke vorm een hoogtepunt. In de zomer zijn buitenzwembaden met ruime ligweiden en verfrissende baden de beste plek om te spetteren en te spelen. In de winter en op regenachtige dagen bieden overdekte en avontuurlijke zwembaden een geschikt alternatief. Waterglijbanen, plezierbaden en waterwhirlpools maken jonge en oude zwemmers blij. Op veel plaatsen is er zelfs een apart babybad voor de allerkleinsten.
De grote avonturenzwembaden bieden ook voordelen voor ouders, omdat ze niet alleen verschillende waterbaden hebben, maar ook ruime wellness-, sauna- en rustruimtes. De beste voorbeelden zijn de zwembaden Cron4 in Riscone, Acquarena in Brixen en natuurlijk Terme Merano.

Ook in veel Zuid-Tiroolse meren kun je - bij goed weer - zonder aarzelen zwemmen: bijvoorbeeld in de Monticolo See bij Eppan, in de Costalovara See op de Renon, in de Fennberger See bij Margreid, in de bekende Kalterer See, in de Felixer Weiher op de Deutschnonsberg, in de Varna See of in de Völser Weiher.
