Het grondgebied ligt tussen 240 en 1.600 meter boven zeeniveau en omvat in totaal negen mooie wijndorpjes en gehuchten met in totaal ongeveer 14.000 inwoners.
Eppan wordt beschouwd als een klein eldorado voor kasteelliefhebbers en romantici. Talloze kastelen, paleizen en adellijke residenties zijn te vinden in de omgeving, velen van hen liefdevol gerestaureerd, open voor rondleidingen of gebruikt als hotels of restaurants, met een geslaagd evenwicht tussen oude traditie en modern toerisme.
Het gebied rond Eppan wordt vooral gewaardeerd om zijn extreem milde klimaat, dat bezoekers aantrekt met aangename temperaturen en zuidelijke flair, zelfs in de lente. In combinatie met de vele kostbare zonuren creëert dit klimaat ideale omstandigheden voor de wijnbouw. Het is dan ook niet verwonderlijk dat de lokale wijnmakerijen, mousserende wijnkelders en grappa distilleerderijen elk jaar vele mooie, internationaal bekende wijnen produceren.
