Carnival in Welschnofen

Cheerful carnival parties and the big parade in costumes have a long tradition in Welschnofen.

From 8 to 13 February 2024, the streets in the village are full of the so called "Schuffener" with their colourful and funny costumes. The name "Schuffener" comes from "Schuffa", the South Tyrolean dialect word for a traditional farmer’s meal made of milk. 

For one week everything in the village is about carnival parties, jokes, amusement and delicious traditional sweets. Furthermore, you can spend a wonderful day on the slopes of the ski areas Carezza or Obereggen between one carnival event and another!

Highlight: Schuffener parade

The highlight of the crazy festivities takes place on Shrove Tuesday, 13 February: the Schuffener parade! At 3:00 p.m., the parade starts at the Rosengarten Street and goes through the village to the house of culture. After admiring the fantastic costumes and colourful wagons, you can enjoy the big party in the house of culture.
