Jagen in Zuid-Tirol
De Zuid-Tiroolse jagers krijgen het vaakst evenhoevig wild voor hun geweer. Daarmee worden geen slakken of schelpdieren bedoeld, maar inheemse evenhoevigen waarvan de klauwen in jagerstaal ook wel schelpen worden genoemd, dus reeën en edelherten, maar ook gemzen, wilde zwijnen en moeflons.
Een tweede jachtgebied is het doden van klein wild, waaronder vossen, hazen en konijnen. In de dalen van Zuid-Tirol is de vogeljacht ook een traditie.
Maar zelfs de meest ervaren en nauwkeurige van de ongeveer 6.000 jagers in Zuid-Tirol mogen niet altijd gaan jagen waar ze willen. Jagen gaat immers niet alleen om het succes en de reputatie van de jager, maar vooral om het behoud van het evenwicht tussen de wildpopulatie en het milieu.
Jachtseizoen van 01 mei tot 15 december
Juist omdat het territorium van veel dieren tegenwoordig steeds kleiner wordt, is het een van de taken van het jachtteam om de biodiversiteit van de wildpopulatie te behouden en de habitat te beschermen. Daarom is nauwkeurig vastgelegd welke en hoeveel dieren wanneer en waar mogen worden afgeschoten.
Het jachtseizoen voor reeën en edelherten loopt over het algemeen van 1 mei tot 15 december; voor alle andere bejaagbare soorten gelden beperkte periodes. Voor evenhoevig wild mag de jager op elke dag op de loer liggen, voor klein wild maximaal drie keer per week - van één uur voor zonsopgang tot één uur na zonsondergang. Een gedetailleerde jachtkalender is ook online beschikbaar.
Wie mag er jagen?
In Zuid-Tirol bestaat een sociaal jachtdistrictsysteem met 8 jachtdistricten en 145 jachtgebieden. In principe mag iedereen in zijn eigen gemeente jagen - op voorwaarde dat hij het inschrijvingsgeld voor het jachtgebied betaalt en in het bezit is van een jachtakte en een jachtgeweervergunning, die hij alleen krijgt na het succesvol afleggen van het jachtexamen.
Nog een tip voor alle jagers en geïnteresseerden in de jacht: Kasteel Wolfsthurn in Ratschings herbergt een spannend jacht- en visserijmuseum. Waidmanns Heil!
