Ratschings is een uitgestrekte gemeente in Zuid-Tirol die drie Alpendalen omvat: het Ridanna/Ridnaun-dal, het Ratschings-dal en het Val di Giovo/Jaufen-dal met de Passo Giovo/Jaufenpas. Of het nu gaat om een kortere wandeling door de Burkhard- of Gilfenklammkloven of een langere zevenmerenwandeling - deze twee bijzonder mooie tochten zijn slechts twee voorbeelden uit een bonte verzameling wandelroutes in en rond Ratschings. Iedereen die echt hoog wil gaan, kan starten vanaf de berghutten Becherhaus of Müllerhütte op meer dan 3.100 meter hoogte naar de felbegeerde toppen in de Stubaier Alpen. Er zijn ook tal van interessante routes voor fietsers. De Jaufenpass is een populaire bestemming voor mountainbikers en racefietsers. Liefhebbers van klettersteigen kunnen hun vaardigheden testen op de Ibex klettersteig.
In de winter kunnen skitoerers zich verheugen op toppen als de Wetterspitze, terwijl Ratschings ook een verscheidenheid aan routes biedt voor sneeuwschoenwandelaars en langlaufloipes met sneeuwgarantie. Het skigebied Racines-Giovo is een gezinsvriendelijk wintersportcentrum met een funpark en rodelbaan. Na de sportieve activiteiten stoppen vakantiegangers van alle leeftijden graag bij een rustieke berghut.

Een spannend avontuur wacht op kinderen en volwassenen in de mijnwereld van Ridanna Schneeberg. De permanente tentoonstelling geeft inzicht in de lokale mijntraditie en bezoekers kunnen zich mijnwerker voelen tijdens spannende rondleidingen, variërend van beginners- tot junior- en dagtochten. De bezienswaardige gotische kapel St. Magdalena werd trouwens ook door mijnwerkers gebouwd.
Het themapad Mountain Adventure World bij het bergstation van de kabelbaan Racines-Giovo brengt kinderen spelenderwijs dichter bij de natuur en heeft een reuzenglijbaan. Wie het liever wat rustiger aan doet, kan een bezoek brengen aan het Provinciaal Museum van Jacht en Visserij in het barokke kasteel Wolfsthurn of een bezoek brengen aan het nabijgelegen Vipiteno. De mooie stad Fugger in het hoger gelegen Eisacktal biedt middeleeuwse flair en modern winkelplezier in het historische stadscentrum.
