Kasteel Hofburg & Diocesaan Museum Brixen
Tot 1973 was de Hofburg de residentie van de bisschoppen van het bisdom Brixen, die ook de wereldlijke macht hadden tot ongeveer 1800. Brixen was dus in het bezit van een vorstelijk hof, wat ook de oorsprong is van de naam "Hofburg". In 1973 werd de bisschopszetel verplaatst naar Bolzano en in de Hofburg zijn sindsdien het Diocesaan Museum en het Diocesaan Archief gevestigd.
Een van de belangrijkste kasteelhoven in Zuid-Tirol
Aan de buitenkant is de Hofburg in Bressanone een gesloten paleisgebouw met vier vleugels, drie verdiepingen, twee torenachtige portieken en een versterkte slotgracht aan de zuidkant. Tegenwoordig leidt een bakstenen brug over de gracht. Bezoekers betreden de prachtige binnenplaats via een gestucte entreehal.
De Hofkerk bevindt zich in de westelijke vleugel tegenover de hoofdingang en is gewijd aan Maria Immaculata. Het barokke interieur heeft talrijke fresco's, rijke stucdecoraties en een marmeren hoofdaltaar. De bisschopsvleugel, de keizersvleugel als artistiek hoogtepunt en de raadzalen zijn ook bijzonder mooi.
Diocesaan Museum Brixen
De collectie van het Diocesaan Museum bevat sacrale kunstwerken van de romaanse periode tot de moderne tijd. Het herbergt ook de schatkamer van de kathedraal van Bressanone, een van de belangrijkste in het Alpengebied met talrijke liturgische voorwerpen, gewaden en reliekschrijnen.
Sinds 2001 herbergt het museum ook de Siegfried Unterberger Collectie, een permanente bruikleen van de provincie Zuid-Tirol. De collectie kerststallen in het Diocesaan Museum van Brixen is ook erg belangrijk. Van tijd tot tijd zijn er ook wisselende speciale tentoonstellingen.

De Hofburg in Brixen is ook de locatie voor verschillende evenementen, zoals speciale rondleidingen, zomeravonden en nog veel meer. Tijdens de kerstperiode vinden er ook adembenemende licht- en muziekshows plaats op de pittoreske binnenplaats van de Hofburg, die elk jaar weer talloze bezoekers in vervoering brengen en perfect gecombineerd kunnen worden met een bezoek aan de kerstmarkt van Bressanone.
