Alpiene veedrift in Zuid-Tirol
In de herfst wordt in heel Zuid-Tirol de veedrift gevierd. De beste melkkoeien worden versierd met rijkelijk versierde kransen, de gezonde kalveren worden gekroond of versierd met verse bloemen en de schapen krijgen een kleurcode. De dieren worden verwelkomd in het dal met fanfaremuziek, boerenmarkten, volksfeesten en applaus en trots en opgewonden banen ze zich een weg door de dorpen naar hun winterverblijf.
De veedrift in Zuid-Tirol vindt plaats tussen half september en eind oktober, afhankelijk van het dorp. Bekende evenementen zijn de veedrift in Terento, die wordt georganiseerd in het kader van de "Terner Schmelzpfandl", de veedrift in Senales, die een van de grootste van het land is en elk jaar duizenden bezoekers trekt, en de zogenaamde Schafschoad in Senales in het Merano Land en in Kematen in Ahrntal.
